Dr. Wei Yan earned his MD from China Medical University in 1990 and his PhD from the University of Turku, Finland, in 2000. Following postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, he established his own laboratory at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Yan is currently a Professor of Physiology and Molecular and Cellular Biology. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed research articles in high-impact journals such as Nature Genetics, PNAS, Nucleic Acids Research, RNA, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Developmental Biology. His research has garnered several prestigious awards, including the 2009 Nevada Higher Education System Regents’ Rising Researcher Award, the 2009 Young Investigator Award from the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR), the 2012 Young Andrologist Award from the American Society of Andrology (ASA), and the 2013 Nevada Healthcare Hero Award for Research and Technology. Dr. Yan serves as a standing member of the NIH CMIR study section and is on the editorial boards of three international journals focused on Reproductive Biology: Biology of Reproduction, Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, and Asian Journal of Andrology
